International Women’s Day is a time to come together and celebrate all that women are and all that they contribute to society. It is also a time to reflect on the challenges and barriers to women’s full participation in all aspects of public and private life and an opportunity to reaffirm our solidarity with the movement towards women’s equality.
The song “Marching On” – which was written by Genevieve Asson-Chinapoo, a participant in our WomenSpeak Songwriting Workshop – perfectly encompasses the spirit of International Women’s Day. It reassures us that women are ‘strong and resilient’ despite the daily challenges we face, and calls us to come together to support one another as we move together towards demanding equality and justice for women.
